An earlier post about using props in a Best man speech was extremely well-received so today we further examine this angle by looking at 5 props and how to use them in your speech. It is important to bear in mind that any use of props should not be done at the expense of detracting from your speech, moreover they should complement it instead.

 
5 Funny Props For Best Man Speeches

1. A print-out of the Groom’s Facebook page (or similar).

Firstly, no it won’t be his real page, where would the fun be in that? Instead, unveil a pre-written (by yourself) page and read it aloud. Read it as if the Groom is describing himself and then exaggerate his description, for example if the Groom is 5ft 8″ and 250lbs, you could read from your print-out saying the Groom describes himself as being 6ft 2″ and 250lbs.

2. A letter or card.

You should announce that the Groom obviously got confused when sending his Christmas cards last year because he sent you the card intended for his new wife. You should then reach into your pocket, take out an old Christmas card and say that it reads, “Hi sweetheart, Happy Christmas, Do you mind if I get your gift in the January? The dollar store has great bargains in the sales.”

3. A McDonalds bag.

Say that now that the Groom is married it will be a long time before he knows what it is like to come home from work and enjoy a peaceful, row-free dinner, so you are providing him with a final Happy Meal yourself.

4. An empty beer mug.

Tell everyone that this mug will hold a special place in history, announce that it was from this mug that the Groom enjoyed his last drink as a single man with his friends and given that he is now married they don’t expect to see much of him anymore.

5. A pillow.

Mention how like lots of married men the Groom can expect to spend many nights sleeping on the couch so you want to aid him in this regard by giving him a pillow.
