So you have given a very successful best man speech, brimming with funny Best Man jokes, so now you can relax, secure in the knowledge that you have successfully completed your role as Head of the Groomsmen? Certainly the pressurized aspects of your role have passed but there are other duties to undertake for the day after the wedding. Certain duties are expected and other duties are just nice to do but will absolutely enhance your reputation as Best Man.

5 Tasks for the Best Man for the Morning after the Wedding.

1. Ensure the Bride and Groom have all the essential documents needed, such as tickets, passports etc, as they depart for their honeymoon.

Aside from being an all-round nice guy and wanting to assist the newlyweds, bear in mind that if they get to the airport and realize that they have forgotten their tickets, guess who gets the call to deliver them? That would be you my friend, so ensure this doesn’t happen by double-checking their travel-documentation with them before they depart for the airport.

2. Ensure the Bride and Groom have transport to the airport for their honeymoon.

Check with the Groom in advance on his travel plans, who is driving them etc, if it is a limousine company make sure you have a copy of their number and call them that morning to remind them of the booking. As with the 1st task above, if the limo driver is a no-show then the Best Man will be expected to do the driving instead. With this in mind it might be no harm to give your car a good clean before the wedding.

3. Check with hotel/venue manager to check if any property has been left behind.

We all know someone who has lost a phone, ipod, bag or some piece of personal property at a wedding. They can be left behind in the hotel rooms or can be lost during the celebrations the night before. Either way, it is a nice touch as Best Man to check with the hotel/venue manager to see if any such items have been handed in. If anything has been left behind your gesture of kindness will be much-appreciated by the recipient of the mislaid item.

4. Return the hired clothing.

Collect all the necessary items from Groomsmen etc, double-check to make sure you have all the clothing, not forgetting your own of course and return them to the shop. Make sure you arrange in advance that before anyone leaves the next day, that they should drop their hired-clothes in to you.

5. Thank the parents of the Bride and Groom.

As gestures go few will be appreciated more than making a point to speak with both sets of parents to thank them for the wonderful celebrations the day before. Your show of gratitude will be remembered for a long time to come and will ensure you enhance your reputation as a friend to both families.

After all this has been done you can breathe a sigh of relief that you have completed your role as Best Man…until the next time of course.
